Am I eligible for a refund on my Clydesdale/Yorkshire Bank Signature Account?
The ‘Signature’ account, it sounds like it’s a cut above the rest, doesn’t it? If it’s Signature, it’s one of a kind, it’s special, its unique…but it has probably still been mis-sold. Just like all the other packaged bank accounts that have been mis-sold over the last 20 years, the Signature account is one that includes travel insurance, mobile insurance and car breakdown cover. You get all of these ‘benefits’ for a fee of £13.50 a month.
Signature Account mis-selling
The Financial Conduct Authority has been investigating all the high street banks for many years now following on from the PBA (packaged bank account) mis-selling scandal. Clydesdale and Yorkshire Banks have both been found guilty of mis-selling to customers and have already paid out £1000s in compensation. Common ways of mis-selling include being told “you have to have this account to be eligible for an overdraft/loan/mortgage” and, in some cases, the banks were even upgrading customers without telling them and just deducting the monthly fee from their account.
But they are offering an amazing Switch deal
Clydesdale and Yorkshire banks are both offering a whopping £250 to switch your current account to them. This welcome bonus is the biggest offered by any of the high street banks, but why are they offering customers this? Maybe they need to entice customers back after getting caught out for mis-selling account the Signature account? Food for thought.
