Can I get a refund on my RBS Select Silver Account?
You may very well think so. The first thing to suggest this was a pretty unappealing product is the report from WHICH Magazine. They rated this Packaged Bank Account at the bottom of all those they surveyed. You would think that RBS had done quite enough in recent years to turn folks off their services, but this PBA suggests they haven’t quite got the message yet. And it wasn’t just the Select Silver Account either. Do any of these names seem familiar? Do you now or have you ever had an account like this?
RBS Packaged Bank Account Names
- RBS Select Platinum Account
- RBS Royalties Gold
- RBS Black Account
- RBS uFirst
- RBS uFirstGold
As you can see, in common with most of the other PBA providers, RBS gave their accounts some very enticing names: Royalties, Platinum, uFirst – they all suggest personal preferment, and a hint that you may be superior to the standard account holder. It was all very flattering, but not necessarily what you wanted, or needed. Maybe you were paying for insurances you couldn’t actually claim on for one reason or another? Maybe you felt pressured to take a fee-paying account. The bank employees were often given extra payments for selling such accounts. It was a process called ‘incentivisation’. But were they doing the right thing for you, their customer? It seems to have been a rather tacky business.
If you have an RBS PBA this is a very good time to have it checked by an expert. If, like thousands of others, you’ve been sold an account that was not suitable for YOUR individual needs, the chances are you will soon find a very substantial cheque sitting on your doormat. The banks are very well aware that this time bomb is about to hit them, and they don’t like it one bit. All the same, that refund payment offers you a most attractive prospect.
